Way to go, EIS!
Ishaan, a student at Day Creek Intermediate, participated in the 3M Junior Scientist Challenge this year. He invented a tactile electronic braille device that can convert any voice or text message to braille and display it on a device that he created. He used a Raspberry Pi Pico to create the electronic device and connected it to a mobile app that he also developed. His project was so impressive that he was selected as one of the Top 10 Junior Scientists of 2023, and he is the only student from Southern California to make it to the finals. Not only that, but his device was also ‘field tested’ at the Inland Empire Lighthouse for the Blind in San Bernardino. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Mrs. Martinez's first grade class learned how to make pinatas and serape blankets.
Join us for Star Wars Reads Day on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This fun filled day organized by the Etiwanda School District libraries will take place at the Barnes & Noble in Rancho Cucamonga. Activities are free and will include puzzles, crafts, story time, the Star Wars Amazing Race, a costume contest, a Lego building contest and more! The 501st will also be visiting participants during our event! We will have drawings for prizes. Mrs. Hutton, an amazing volunteer at West Heritage, is receiving a high five today. She has two grandkids who attend West Heritage and has volunteered her time to help out in Mrs. Guski’s kindergarten class every day since school started. She will gladly help anytime you need her and absolutely loves working with the students. We appreciate you, Mrs. Hutton!

Perdew Elementary is giving a high five to one of their PE aides, Matthew Noyes. Mr. Noyes takes time to connect with the kids during their lunch time, playing handball, shooting hoops, and just getting to know the students. Students at Falcon Ridge Elementary made "papel picado" to honor Hispanic Heritage Month. They decorated the library with their creations.
Mrs. Joanna works hard to build positive relationships with students as a member of Heritage Intermediate's campus support team. She helps to keep their students safe, to correct behavior, and to prepare their PBIS store for students at lunch. She is a wonderful addition to their team.
