What is the Wellness Committee?

Local wellness policies are an important tool for parents, schools, and districts in promoting student wellness, preventing and reducing childhood obesity, and providing assurance that school meal nutrition guidelines meet the minimum federal school meal standards. The Etiwanda School District Wellness Committee meets twice per year to discuss and evaluate implementation of the District Wellness Policy (BP 6140 and AR 6140) and progress toward annually adopted Wellness Goals. Parents, physical education teachers, school health professionals, child nutrition leaders, school administrators, and community representatives participate in the development, implementation, review, and update of the local wellness policy during these meetings.

How can I get involved with the District Wellness Committee?

Each school site has Wellness representatives that are selected yearly. Please contact your school administrator if you are interested in joining this committee.

Annual Evaluation / Wellness Program Goal Progress for 2023-2024, 2022-2023, 2021-2022,  2020-20212019-2020

Health and wellness are important for a child’s development and achievement in and outside of school. This webpage has been established to help students and their families to learn and adopt healthy habits.

“Each local education agency (LEA) that participates in the National School Lunch Program and/or School Breakfast Program is required to develop a wellness policy.

LEAs must conduct an assessment of the wellness policy every 3 years, at a minimum.  This assessment will determine:

  • Compliance with the wellness policy,

  • How the wellness policy compares to model wellness policies, and

  • Progress made in attaining the goals of the wellness policy.”
