Notice for the 2023 - 24 School Year

students in class

After close evaluation of the enrollment of special education and general education students in grades TK-8 districtwide, the Etiwanda School District has determined that all school sites are CLOSED to new inter and intradistrict transfers with the exception of:

  • Alternative Studies Center – open only to intradistrict transfers

Additionally, the district has determined that some school sites and programs are “severely impacted”.  A school is considered to be “severely impacted” if, based upon current enrollment, there is no additional classroom space and/or a current elementary enrollment may severely impact an intermediate school site upon matriculation.

Additionally, our Special Education programs are closed to all interdistrict transfers at all school sites.

Intradistrict Transfer Process

Any parent or guardian of a TK-8 student residing within the Etiwanda School District boundaries may apply for a transfer to any school within the district.  Please see below for additional information pertaining to Intradistrict transfers:

  • Students must be enrolled in their school of residence before submitting an Intradistrict transfer request. (TK and Kindergarten students may apply for an intradistrict transfer before the enrollment period, if the transfer timeline proceeds the enrollment window for the following year. Final notification of the transfer may not be sent until the TK/K enrollment is complete.)

  • Intradistrict transfer requests are granted based upon space availability, student conduct, and attendance.

  • Parent/guardian assumes responsibility for providing transportation to and from school.

  • A student on an approved Intradistrict transfer may be subject to reassignment due to excessive enrollment at a school site.

  • Once a student is granted an Intradistrict transfer for the school requested, they will attend the school(s) until the completion of 8th grade, as long as enrollment space exists, and all transfer conditions are met.

  • An approved Intradistrict transfer may be revoked at any time if information is falsified on the transfer request form or if a student demonstrates unsatisfactory conduct and/or attendance. Revocations are final and not subject to an appeal

    process.

Interdistrict Transfer Process

OUTGOING Inter-district Transfers - families who reside within the Etiwanda School District boundaries but wish to attend school in another district.

Click here to access the inter-district transfer request.

Please return the completed form to the Etiwanda School District Office at 6061 East Ave. Etiwanda, CA 91739 ATTN: Pupil Services Department or email to kim_prancevic@etiwanda.org. If approved, the application will be sent to the requested district of attendance. The application must be approved by the requested district before the transfer becomes final.

INCOMING Interdistrict Transfers – families of children in grades TK-8 who live outside of the Etiwanda School District boundaries but wish to attend a school within the Etiwanda School District.

Inter-district transfer requests must be obtained from the student’s district of residence for release of the student. The completed transfer request will then be sent to our Pupil Services Department for review. All students on a current incoming inter-district transfer do not have to renew their inter-district transfer application unless requesting a different school.

Please see below for additional information pertaining to incoming Inter-district transfers:

  • Inter-district transfer requests are granted based upon space availability.

  • The district shall not provide transportation outside of any school attendance area.

  • The district reserves the right to deny an interdistrict transfer request at any time.

  • A student on an approved inter-district transfer at a severely impacted elementary school site may be subject to reassignment upon middle school matriculation due to excessive enrollment at a school site.

  • For an inter-district transfer request received by the district 15 or fewer calendar days before the commencement of instruction in the school year for which the transfer is sought, the district will notify the parent/guardian of its final decision within 30 calendar days from the date the request was received.

  • For an inter-district transfer request received by the district more than 15 days before the commencement of instruction in the school year for which the inter-district transfer is sought, the district will notify the parent/guardian of its final decision as soon as possible, but no later than 14 calendar days after the commencement of instruction in the school year for which transfer is sought. Once a student is enrolled in a school on an approved inter-district transfer, he/she shall not be required to reapply.

  • Failure of a parent/guardian to meet any guidelines established by the district shall be deemed an abandonment of the request.

  • An approved inter-district transfer may be revoked at any time if information is falsified on the transfer request form or if a student demonstrates unsatisfactory conduct and/or attendance.
