What is the Wellness Committee?
Local wellness policies are an important tool for parents, schools and districts in promoting student wellness, preventing and reducing childhood obesity, and providing assurance that school meal nutrition guidelines meet the minimum federal school meal standards. The Etiwanda School District's Wellness Committee meets twice per year to discuss and evaluate implementation of the District’s Wellness Policy (BP 6140 and AR 6140), and progress toward annually adopted Wellness Goals. Parents, physical education teachers, school health professionals, child nutrition leaders, school administrators, and community representatives participate in the development, implementation, review, and update of the local wellness policy during these meetings.
